Its deterioration was mainly caused by damp and the presence of inorganic deposits, factors that caused the gilding and paintwork to lift. Various projects have been carried out as part of this renovation, ranging from vacuuming organic and inorganic elements to reintegrating the gilding by applying fine gold.

The recovery of the polychrome on some motifs that decorated the railings was particularly important.

Throughout this restoration process, materials that are reversible and compatible with the originals have been used.
